CPC Corporation, Taiwan and Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Deepening Subsurface Exploration Technology in Taiwan geothermal areas and Information sharing on March 11, 2021 at ITRI. Upon the signing of the MOU, both sides will share specialized technology, strengthen the precision of the geothermal and geological conceptual model, enhance the success rate of well drilling, geothermal power plant building and power generation and cultivate the development and niche of national geothermal resources, thereby accelerating the policy goal of energy transformation.

CPC Corporation, Taiwan engages in geothermal exploration in geothermal areas with surface signs throughout Taiwan with 34 geothermal exploration wells drilled. The information was disclosed, which is the basic evaluation data of current private geothermal operators taking part in geothermal exploration. At the end of 2019, CPC Corporation, Taiwan began drilling two geothermal exploration wells in the Jentse area. In 2020, two additional geothermal exploration wells in Tuchang area, Yilan County were drilled. Three geothermal exploration wells in Tuchang area will subsequently be drilled to accelerate geothermal resource development in the Yilan area.
