CPC and the Cabinet-level Council of Agriculture (COA) join forces to boost farmers’ livelihoods and benefit consumers

CPC President Lin Sheng-Zhong and Chen Un-De, Vice Chairman of the COA were witnesses to a ceremony in April, hosted by CPC, at which a Memorandum of Produce Sale was signed by CPC President Kong Xiang-Un and Commissioner Li Cang-Lang of the Agriculture and Food Agency. This Memorandum embodies a joint pledge to promote local agriculture in such a way as to benefit farmers, the general public, the Council of Agriculture and CPC itself.
As part of its active CSR policy, CPC has been showing its support and appreciation for the agricultural community by buying up produce for giveaway to its employees and giving gifts of local fruit at Chinese New Year and at community events. With help from the COA, CPC promotes community-supported agriculture by allowing its gas stations to be storefronts and same-day pick-up points for fresh produce ordered online. This helps farmers set up a lasting, reliable sales channel and to maintain their profit margin; at the same time, as one of CPC’s diversified gas station services, it provides consumers with fresh, in-season vegetables and fruit at very reasonable prices.
