Coming clean: CPC looks to lift the quality of its car wash service - by holding a competition for experts

In the afternoon of 5 September, CPC’s Da Yi Road gas station in Chiayi City was the venue for a competition to find Taiwan’s champion car-wash operator. The event was part of the company’s push to raise the quality of its car washing service and get it rated as the country’s best. By enabling both the exchange of ideas on car-wash technology and the adoption of Japanese-style car-wash knowhow, it also served the purpose of showing how to provide the company’s customers with the best-available care for their cars.

 

To give further impetus towards a higher-quality service, last year CPC hired a Japanese car wash technical professional to inject advanced, Japanese-style quality and personalized expertise into all of its gas station car washes. There are currently about 200 of these, out of a total of 612 self-service gas stations, including 50 sites which altogether have taken on as employees around 300 people with physical and mental disabilities.

 

Thirty-one car wash teams from all over Taiwan came to compete in this event. The criteria for selection included an assessment of skills in the areas of speed, technology usage and quality of service as well as customer perception. The underlying purpose of the competition was to find the specialists and skilled operators best able to set the standards for a top-class car wash service with quality as its cornerstone. CPC believes that only by consistently providing the best-in-class car wash can it enhance its customer return rate and enable its overall car wash operation to achieve stable growth.
